How to Get Raid Alerts in Rust
Rust doesn't tell you when your base is being raided. The only in-game tool that comes close is a Smart Alarm, and even that only reaches you through the Rust+ app unless you route it somewhere else.
Why raids catch people off guard
Doors get soft-sided and walls get sheet-metaled during downtime, and by the time someone checks the game, the raid team is already several floors deep. Most raids happen while the owning team is offline, asleep, or simply not tabbed into Rust - which is exactly when a passive alert matters most.
The only real in-game tool: Smart Alarms
A Smart Alarm is a craftable electrical device that fires a Rust+ push notification whenever its power input is powered - it has no built-in sense of “damage” on its own. To catch an actual raid, wire a Seismic Sensor into the circuit instead of powering the alarm directly: the sensor needs its own continuous power to listen, covers a radius adjustable up to 30 meters, and only outputs power when it detects a nearby explosion - rockets, explosive ammo, C4, or a heli blast, not gunfire or melee hits. Wire that output into the alarm and give it a name you'll recognize. See our Rust Smart Alarm guide for the full wiring breakdown.
Getting the alert outside the game
Rust+ shows a Smart Alarm trigger as a phone push notification, which is easy to miss - especially if you're asleep or your phone's on silent. Most Rust teams coordinate in Discord anyway, so a bot that posts the same trigger there, with an optional role ping and a history of past triggers, closes that gap.
If the alert never shows up
- Check that the Seismic Sensor has continuous power. The Smart Alarm should receive power when the sensor triggers; being unpowered at rest is normal.
- If a Seismic Sensor or other trigger feeds it, test that device alone first.
- Make sure the alarm is paired to your Rust+ account, not only wired.
- Confirm the server has Rust+ enabled and reachable.
- Check rustchad's bot can view and send messages in the target Discord channel.
Do it with rustchad
rustchad pairs with your Rust+ server and posts every Smart Alarm trigger straight to Discord, with role mentions and event history included. See Rust Raid Alerts for the full setup.
FAQ
- Does Rust have a native raid alert?
- No. The closest thing is a Smart Alarm, which sends a push notification through the Rust+ app - there's nothing built into the base game that flags a raid on its own.
- What if I don't have a Smart Alarm placed yet?
- It's a craftable electrical item - wire it to power and place it somewhere central like your TC room. For raid detection specifically, also wire in a trigger like a Seismic Sensor so it only fires on an actual event instead of staying on continuously.
- Can I get pinged for a specific role instead of just a phone notification?
- Not through Rust+ itself. That's what connecting the alarm to a Discord bot is for - see the section below.
