Track Rust Players and Get Notified When They Come Online
Looking up one player's stats? That's not what this is. rustchad is built for watching a specific list of players over time - raiders, rivals, teammates - and telling you the moment their status changes, in Discord.
How it works
Build a watchlist
Add up to 3 players per server for free, or 20 on Premium.
Get notified on status changes
Premium posts a Discord alert the moment a tracked player comes online or goes offline, and keeps a live overview of your whole watchlist in its own #tracker channel. Free shows live status in the dashboard without the Discord side.
Group players that matter together
Premium lets you group tracked players - a rival clan, your own team, a list of known raiders - instead of one flat list.
No API key or RCON needed
Presence comes from your server's public BattleMetrics page through the rustchad Companion extension - the same one you already use to pair your Rust+ server.
What it isn't
rustchad isn't a Steam or Rust profile search engine - it won't tell you a random SteamID's ban history or hours played. It's a notification tool: you choose who to watch, and rustchad tells you when something changes for exactly those players.
One thing to know
Live updates need the rustchad Companion extension open on your server's BattleMetrics page in a browser tab - it can stay in the background. You already use that same extension to pair your Rust+ account, so there's usually nothing extra to install. See our How to Track Players in Rust guide for the full comparison against manually checking BattleMetrics.
FAQ
- Does this work like a Rust or Steam profile lookup?
- No - it's a watchlist and notification tool, not a search engine. You add specific players you want to keep an eye on, and rustchad tracks their status over time.
- How many players can I track?
- Free covers 3 tracked players per server. Premium raises that to 20 and adds player groups.
- Do I get a Discord alert when someone comes online?
- That's a Premium feature. Free shows live online/offline status in the dashboard; Premium adds the Discord notification the moment it changes.
- Where does the online/offline status come from?
- Your server's public BattleMetrics player list, read live by the rustchad Companion extension while that server's BattleMetrics page is open in a browser tab.
